One night at  Efes...

dscf0034.jpg

So Jean came to see the play one night and after Patrick, Amy, Chris, Elizabeth, Charles and I went out to eat at Efes.  With all the belly dance music and I don't know what else....  We decided to have a Winter Soltice party... then came the issue of what does a Soltice party mean to us... Patrick pointed out that it is the OLDEST celebrated holiday of all... and we figured we needed to do it RIGHT.

Here is what we came up with after me cooking all day *winks.*

And getting all decorated up...  Still there is more I should have done... but not much more I could have done.... not this year... but hey.... if the first one was PERFECT... then there would not be so much to aspire to in future years :)))  Right??

I think it is fun to set up meals that my family only gets one time a year.  What ever I fix for a holiday is ONLY served that one day each year ehehee...  this way I think you look forward to it.  Each year I try and make that meal even better than the years before.  Hopefully winning everyone over to loving it.

Right now we are trying to figure out what holiday / event would be good for my beef wellington -- any ideas?

Favorite Veggie

Ok so two veggies were in staring roles last night... the asparagus is an all time favorite... the minute people taste my grilled Asparagus they go NUTZ for it...

However, we had a surprise winner last night that had everyone scrambling to dig thru the onions.... THE dark horse of the evening were the Parsnips.  Trust me on this, they should be grilled WHOLE!  I cooked them about as long as the meat… chopped off the ends and ta DA they were tossed on the grill…. Along side of the meat…..

Winter Soltice Dinner
(2005; First annual, event)

Here are some pics of the dinner, evening, food and guests from last night.  There were many more I could have taken... and now wish I had... but then this page would be filled with even more pictures.  Ummm I think it is time for me to go do some baking... ya'll come back now ya hear?

Just in case you didn't infer it...  the baking was for the pound cake that I poured Captain Morgan's spiced rum over and then sprinkled powdered sugar to make a snowed on effect, the two chocolate chess pies and my homemade from scratch french bread which I molded into individual pieces.  Next time... I need to make them one more smaller... as you can see they were hu-norm-un-gus!
