From the mountainous western North Carolina to the
wondrous corn and tobacco fields of our flatlands and even those special foods we enjoy by the sea, home
cooking is always the best.
I have been so fortunate to grow up in a family who has always
enjoyed cooking and putting great food on the table, food that really makes a person feel the love. Psychology
says we put too much emotion on food. I feel it is just the way it is.
A person who
you trust to eat their food gives to you a magic and love that goes deeply. Our food becomes a part of
us making the very tissues of our body. I hope to share the magic and love I have felt eating all this with you all by sharing
these recipes and to honor those I have gathered them from in the process so that they will never be forgotten.
I have collected old ones… and made up new ones and some I honestly don’t remember where they came
from, so if you recognize one and know which aunt, uncle grandparent or other made them… please speak up.
I hope you will enjoy our family foods… as we have for generations past and I hope with this writing
to create a future for all our family favorites.
