Tuna Salad (lettuce based)

This is one of my favorites from when I was a kid. Really great for summer meals.

1 large    heavy head lettuce
  bread and butter pickles, cubed
1 large    can Starkest tuna packed in OIL but drained well.
1 large    summer tomato, chopped (ends removed)
2 med    sweet onions sliced into thin rings (peel off weak layers)
2 med    cucumbers (peeled and sliced)
  mayonnaise
  salt
  pepper

1 Take lettus, pop the bottom out of it, wash and set asside to drain in bowl in fridgerator covered with celophane.
2 Put all veggies and drained tuna into a bowl and add mayo, salt and pepper stir and lets sit for at least 30 min to meld flavors...
3 Remove lettuce and break into small bite size pieces. Return to fridge till ready to serve.
4 When ready to eat take out the lettuce and gently fold the 'dressing' mixture, into it to mix thoroughly. Serve with saltine crackers... makes a wonderful summer meal.
