Festive - Hot Mulled Wine
 
 
1 cup    sugar (brown is tasty)  
1/2 cup    apple juice or cider (Cranberry could be substituted as well)  
2 sticks    cinnamon  
1/2   lemon, cut in slices  
1 quart    red wine  
2 doz    whole cloves  
2 cup    pineapple juice  
1 1/2 cup    orange juice  
1 1/2 cup    lemon juice  
 
Make syrup by boiling sugar, water, cinnamon, lemon slices and cloves for 5 minutes. Strain syrup and the pineapple, orange and lemon juices. Heat but do not boil, 1 quart red wine. Combine juice mixture and wine. Serve very hot. Can refrigerate unused portion and reheat.
